Institutions as the TRNC describes them
The TRNC Public Information Office describes a secular republic in which legislative, executive and judicial powers are separate, and says the Assembly of the Republic has 50 members. The full constitution text is linked from the same official site; this guide does not interpret it, and the date and wording of its adoption should be checked in the official text.
Other descriptions, such as 'semi-presidential', come from secondary sources and are not used as the TRNC's own wording here.
Current office-holders (checked 4 November 2026)
Office-holders can change, especially around elections. Each entry names the source and is dated.

The 6 December 2026 elections
The Supreme Election Council's site has separate pages for the parliamentary (early general) election and for the local elections dated 6 December 2026. Treat them as two different elections and follow the Council's official announcements for the timetable, candidate lists and any change. No result is stated here because voting has not taken place.
The previous presidential election was held on 19 October 2025. Press reports citing the Council say Tufan Erhürman won in the first round with 62.76% against 35.81% for Ersin Tatar; check the Council's final table for official figures.
International position, attributed
The TRNC authorities describe an independent state declared on 15 November 1983 and use the 'two states' wording in their promotional material. UN Security Council Resolution 550 (1984) declared the secessionist actions illegal and invalid and reiterated its call on States not to recognise the entity. Which States, if any, recognise the TRNC and the current UN statement were not verified here.
How this affects a property transaction is a legal question for an independent lawyer; this guide draws no conclusion.

Exceptions and limits. Office-holders and election timetables change, so every name here carries a check date. The full constitution text and the current seat distribution were not read. The international position is stated as attributed positions, not as a conclusion. This is general information, not legal advice.
