About North Cyprus · Shopping
Shopping in North Cyprus: supermarkets and open markets
As of 28 October 2026, the websites of Erülkü, Metropol, Molto, Ünimar and Starling each describe their own stores or ordering pages, and several municipality pages describe open markets. This page reports only what those sources state, with the date checked, and links each statement to its source. Opening hours, delivery coverage and market days appear only where a page prints them; otherwise the page says to confirm directly. It gives no prices, exchange rates or rankings.
Checked 28 October 2026 against the sources named in the text and listed below. Positions of parties are attributed to them.

What three retailers state on their own websites
According to its own website, Erülkü Süpermarket is at Gazimağusa-Lefkoşa Anayolu, Demirhan. On 28 October 2026 its contact page printed "Hergün: 07:00 - 22:00" (every day, 07:00 to 22:00) as its working hours. The about page states an indoor area of 12,000 m², 48 staffed and 4 self-service checkouts, and a car park of about 400–500 vehicles. Its home page lists other businesses under "Mağazalarımız" and ATMs of seven banks outside the market, its services page lists 20 tenants with hours, and the site does not mention online ordering or delivery.
Metropol Süpermarket's website lists two branches: Lefkoşa (Şht Kemal Ünal Caddesi No:115, Taşkınköy) and Girne (Uğur Mumcu Caddesi No:23, Karakum). Its home page says the company has served customers for "30+" years, and its "Faaliyet Alanlarımız" page lists market, home meals, vegetables, butcher, bakery and catering among its activities. The pages opened print no opening hours and do not mention online ordering or delivery.
Molto Supermarket's website says the Molto brand came from the restructuring of the Lemar Süpermarketler chain, that the group founded Lemar in 1997 and that Molto has served with 8 branches since 2022. Its stores page lists eight sites with addresses: Mağusa Terminal, Ortaköy, Karakum, İskele, Girne Boğaz, Lefkoşa Surlariçi, and campus stores at UKÜ (Haspolat) and DAÜ (Gazimağusa). No opening hours, online ordering or delivery are printed.

Online ordering and delivery as the retailers state it
Starling Supermarket's website is built as an online shop. Its page description invites orders for "Girne, Alsancak, Lapta ve çevresine" (Girne, Alsancak, Lapta and surroundings), a header banner reads "Girne bölgesine aynı gün teslimat" (same-day delivery to the Girne area), and the description lists cash on delivery ("kapıda ödeme"). A neighbourhood selector appears on the page; the site prints no opening hours or branch addresses on the page opened.
Ünimar Supermarket's website has a basket, account and order history, and asks the shopper to choose a delivery area before ordering. On 28 October 2026 the delivery address shown was Gazi Mağusa. Ünimar says it has been in the market sector since 2009 and reports 5 branches in the Mağusa and İskele areas; its contact page lists four locations: Merkez, City Mall, İskele and Maraş. It prints no fees, minimum order or delivery times in the text opened.
The Erülkü, Metropol and Molto pages opened for this guide did not mention online ordering or delivery. That is a statement about those pages, not about what each retailer offers: ask each retailer about delivery zones, minimum order, payment options, delivery hours and substitutions.

Supermarkets with other businesses on site
Erülkü's home page shows a supermarket whose own site lists other businesses under "Mağazalarımız" (eight are named) and the ATMs of seven banks. Its services page lists 20 tenants with their hours. Ünimar's contact page prints one branch address as "Şht. İbrahim Kazım Cad. City Mall Avm", so the address text places that branch in a building called City Mall. No official City Mall site was opened, so no tenant list is given; check an operator's own site before relying on a name.

Open markets as municipality pages describe them
According to a Girne Belediyesi article dated 14 January 2016, the renewed open market (Açık Pazar) lies between the Girne Bus Terminal and Barış Park and runs on Wednesdays; on other days the covered area serves as parking, a bus park and an event space. A municipality notice dated 20 May 2020 on reopening referred to Wednesday 20 May 2020 and set no weekly schedule, and a 3 March 2021 article calls it "Girne'de bulunan Açık Pazar" without days. These items are dated, so confirm the current day with the municipality.
A page on the Lefkoşa Türk Belediyesi website titled "Municipal Market" places the market at 2. Uray Street, Selimiye Neighbourhood, gives hours of 08:00 to 18:00 and lists "food, drinks, spices and fruits indigenous to Cyprus"; it states no operating days. Gazimağusa Belediyesi's article of 4 September 2023 refers to its own "Pazar yeri" as the site of a back-to-school market on Saturday 9 September; it gives no address and no weekly days. Güzelyurt Belediyesi lists "Açık Pazar" among completed projects (page dated 6 October 2022) without location or days.
No market days are stated here for İskele, Lefke or Güzelyurt, and none for İskele municipality because its website could not be opened for this page on 28 October 2026. For what is in season, see Harvest calendar and Traditional food and sweets.

Currency, payment and imported or dietary goods
According to the Public Information Office (PIO) general information page, the currency is the Turkish lira (₺). The Central Bank of the TRNC publishes an exchange-rate inquiry by date on its own site; this page gives no rates, and see Practical information for other everyday basics. Neither official source opened lists which payment cards a given shop accepts. Starling's site mentions cash on delivery and Ünimar's a secure payment system; ask each shop what it takes.
This page makes no claim about which imported, organic, halal, gluten-free or other dietary products any shop stocks. Erülkü's website has a page titled "İthal Ürünlerimiz" (Our Imported Products); the page opened lists product names without stating origin or availability. Ask the shop about specific items and read the ingredient label.

First-week checklist of questions to ask
This is a checklist of questions, not a set of facts. Which shops are within reach of your address, and on which days and hours are they open, including Sundays and public holidays? Does the shop deliver to your neighbourhood, and what is the minimum order and payment method? Which payment cards or cash does it accept? Where is the nearest open market, and on which day does the municipality say it runs?
Ask also whether the shop can order a specific imported or dietary item, how long that takes, and how it is labelled. For household basics, ask what you need to bring: sockets, for example, are covered on Practical information.
Shopping facts by region, from the pages cited
This section repeats only facts from the cited pages; see the Districts and towns map for locations. Where a region has no cited fact, it says so.
Karpaz and Long Beach have no card here because no municipality or retailer page opened for this guide gave a shopping fact for them by name. Molto's stores page lists its İskele store on the Boğaztepe Karpaz Anayolu.

Practical notes
- Retailers named here are those whose own websites were opened on 28 October 2026; the list is not exhaustive and does not rank anyone.
- Molto's site says its brand came from the restructuring of Lemar; check each address with the retailer rather than relying on older names.
- Of the supermarkets, only Erülkü printed opening hours on the pages opened (Hergün: 07:00 - 22:00); its tenants' hours are printed on its services page. Confirm all hours, including Sundays, with each shop.
- Municipality items are dated between 2016 and 2023; markets may have changed days or place. Confirm with the municipality.
- This page gives no prices, baskets, exchange rates or delivery coverage beyond what a retailer prints.
