Vehicle and boat dealers in North Cyprus

As of 28 October 2026, this page reports what three businesses state on their own websites (a Mercedes-Benz site for North Cyprus, a second site run under the Kombos name, and a marine company, Fishertown) and what the TRNC Public Information Office says about Karpaz Gate Marina and about driving. It lists questions to ask before buying. It gives no prices, stock or rankings, and it is informational, not legal advice.

Checked 28 October 2026 against the sources named in the text and listed below. Positions of parties are attributed to them.

What the dealers' own sites state

Only pages that could be opened and read on 28 October 2026 are used here, and each card reports only what that page prints. A page that calls a business a distributor or dealer is quoted as saying so; where a page does not use those words, this page does not either. No other makes, commercial vehicles or motorcycles are listed, because no first-party page for them was opened.

Addresses are given as printed in the list view of the Mercedes-Benz locator page on the day of checking. Opening times are not shown in the list view, so none are given. Confirm every address, time and brand directly with the business.

Cadde Organize Sanayi Bölgesi), Mercedes-Benz Kombos Girne (Bedrettin Demirel Cad., 1/A) and Kombos Innovation (Gün sokak, Haspolat No:41). It does not use the word "authorised".

  • dealer site

    Kombos Otomotiv

The site, titled Kombos Otomotiv and naming Serhan Kombos Otomotiv Ltd., has sections for new and used vehicles, insurance quotes, service appointments and spare parts, and branches in Lefkoşa, Girne, Mağusa and Haspolat. • marine dealer site

    Fishertown

The About page describes a marine company active since 2009 that calls itself "Northern Cyprus Exclusive Dealer of Mercury Marine Engines". Driving and licences: what the PIO states

According to the TRNC Public Information Office (PIO) FAQ, foreigners may drive in the TRNC on a touristic trip provided they have a valid passport and the vehicle is registered in their name. It states that tourists' driving licences are valid for 90 days from the date of entry and that, within 30 days of the visitor status ending, the person must apply for a licence in the TRNC. The FAQ credits the TRNC Traffic Department as its source.

The same FAQ says that third-country citizens with a residence, work or student permit take a test on the TRNC traffic rules, receive a learner's licence and take a course of at least 5 days, 8 hours a day and 2 hours at night before applying. It also says Turkish citizens who receive such a permit may not drive on a Turkish licence after that day. The PIO page Life in the TRNC for foreigners says tourists may drive on a foreign licence approved by the Immigration Police Officer at the port of entry.

Neither PIO page explains how to import or register a vehicle. For licence steps in more detail see the driving licence page. This is informational, not legal advice; confirm with the authority.

Registration, roadworthiness, insurance, import and taxes

No official page opened for this guide states the current rules for registering a vehicle, roadworthiness testing, insurance, import, customs duty or vehicle taxes, so none are described here. No official page on these topics was used; check the Traffic Department and the Customs and Excise Department. Two partial statements exist: the PIO page for foreigners says foreigners may use their motor vehicle on a tourist trip if they hold a valid passport and the vehicle is registered in their name, and an undated ministry traffic notice says you may be asked for registration papers, insurance, licence and ID at traffic checks. Neither sets out insurance or registration rules.

Before buying or importing a vehicle, read the current rules at the Traffic Department, the Customs and Excise Department and the Ministry responsible, and ask the seller in writing which documents transfer with the vehicle. The government offices page, the arrival page and the practical information page point to where these offices are listed. Confirm with the authority; this is informational, not legal advice.

Marinas and boats: what official and company pages state

The PIO page on Karpaz Gate Marina is dated 30 June 2017 and may be out of date. According to it, the marina sits in a protected bay on the north side of the Karpaz Peninsula, about 5 km from the village of Yeni Erenköy, and it names Cyprus Yachts as its brokerage and new boat sales office. The page does not mention vessel registration, and no official source on registering a boat was opened for this guide.

Fishertown, covered in the first block, is a marine company that states it deals in Mercury engines and several boat brands; it is not a marina. For boats hired by the day or week, see boat tours and yacht charters.

  • marina

Karpaz Gate Marina: berths and services

The PIO page says the marina has 300 berths and is aimed at yachts up to 60 m, with power and water at every berth, fuel, a pump-out station and an 18,000 m² dry storage area. The page is dated 30 June 2017.

  • boatyard

    Karpaz Gate Marina: boatyard

The page lists a 300-ton travel lift, haul-out, hull wash, anti-fouling, hard standing, and winterizing and de-winterizing services.

    Source: pio.mfa.gov.ct.tr

  • port of entry

Karpaz Gate Marina: port of entry

The page describes the marina as "an official Port of Entry" and says yachts entering North Cyprus should fly the North Cyprus or Turkish courtesy flag and the Q flag and proceed to customs officials. Confirm current procedure with the authorities.

Questions to ask before buying

About the seller: Is the business a dealership, an independent seller, a broker or a marina, and where does it say so itself? Which make or brand does it hold an arrangement for, and can it show that in writing? Who is the legal seller named on the invoice?

About the vehicle or boat: Whose name is on the registration, and can it be transferred to yours? What inspection or roadworthiness papers exist, and who issued them? What warranty applies, who honours it in North Cyprus, and for how long? Are there outstanding debts, loans or liens? For a boat, which flag and papers does it carry?

About cost and rules: Which import, customs, tax, insurance and transfer steps apply, and which authority confirms them? What is the final total in writing, and what is refundable? If you will drive on a foreign licence at first, when must you apply for a TRNC licence? For residence matters see the residence permits page.

Practical notes

  • NORTHEA is a property advisory. It is not a dealer, broker, marina, charter or ferry operator, a government office or a lawyer, and it has no affiliation with the businesses named on this page. Naming a business is not an endorsement.
  • This page is informational, not legal advice. Registration, import, tax, insurance and licence rules change; confirm with the authority before acting.
  • Only partial official statements on registration and insurance were found (see the registration section); no official page on import, customs duty or vehicle taxes was used. Check the Traffic Department and the Customs and Excise Department.
  • The Karpaz Gate Marina page is dated 30 June 2017. The Mercedes-Benz locator does not show opening times in its list view, and phone numbers printed on the business pages are not reproduced here.
  • No first-party page was opened for other car makes, commercial vehicles, motorcycles, yacht brokers, charter operators or ferry operators, so none is named. A brand appearing in a site's search filter is not a statement of authorisation or stock.
  • This page lists no prices, stock, ratings or ranking of businesses.

Frequently asked questions

Can I drive in North Cyprus on my foreign licence?

The PIO FAQ (2026 check) says tourists' driving licences are valid for 90 days from entry, and the vehicle must be registered in the driver's name. Another PIO page says the licence is approved by the Immigration Police Officer at the port of entry. Confirm with the authority.

What happens after the 90 days?

According to the PIO FAQ, within 30 days of the visitor status ending the person must apply for a licence in the TRNC. Third-country residence, work or student permit holders take a test on the TRNC traffic rules and a driving course first, per the same FAQ.

Which Mercedes-Benz sites cover North Cyprus?

The mercedes-benz-north-cyprus.com site names Kombos Automotive and says it maintained the status of general distributor for Mercedes-Benz cars in North Cyprus. Its locator lists Lefkoşa, Girne and Haspolat; its home page also mentions İskele. Checked 28 October 2026.

Is Kombos Otomotiv an authorised dealer?

Its own site, checked on 28 October 2026, has sections for new and used vehicles and a list of makes in a filter, but no authorisation statement. The Mercedes-Benz site separately describes Kombos Automotive as general distributor for Mercedes-Benz cars. Ask for written proof for any other make.

Who deals in Mercury marine engines?

Fishertown's About page calls the company the "Northern Cyprus Exclusive Dealer of Mercury Marine Engines" and an "Authorized and Certified Mercury dealer". That is the company's own statement, checked 28 October 2026; ask for documents if it matters.

What does the PIO say about Karpaz Gate Marina?

Its page, dated 30 June 2017, describes 300 berths, a boatyard with a 300-ton travel lift and an official Port of Entry. It names Cyprus Yachts as brokerage and new boat sales office. It may be out of date; contact the marina.

Does the PIO explain how to import or register a car?

No. The PIO FAQ does not explain how to import or register a vehicle, and nor does its Life in the TRNC for foreigners page (both checked 28 October 2026). Ask the Traffic Department and the Customs and Excise Department.

Is a marina the same as a boat dealer?

No. A marina offers berths and boatyard services; a dealer or broker sells boats. The PIO marina page, dated 30 June 2017, lists the marina's services and names a separate brokerage. Check what each business states about itself.
