North Cyprus retirement cost of living in 2026: what the sources confirm
As of 1 November 2026, official pages confirm part of a retiree budget in North Cyprus: annual consumer inflation of 35.02% in September 2026 (State Statistics Institute) and the household electricity tariff in force since 1 June 2026 (Kıb-Tek). A net minimum wage of 61,677 TL was reported in July 2026. Rent, water, health cover and pensions could not be verified from named sources and are listed as not verified.
Checked 1 November 2026. The inflation and electricity figures were read on the official State Statistics Institute and Kıb-Tek pages; the minimum wage comes from a news report of an official decision. The Institute lists its next consumer price release for 5 November 2026, after which the inflation figure will be out of date. This page is general information, not financial, tax or legal advice, and it promises no residency or permit.
Prices and inflation
The State Statistics Institute release for September 2026 states that the consumer price index rose 3.34% compared with the previous month, 28.15% compared with December of the previous year and 35.02% compared with the same month of the previous year. For a retiree this means the Turkish lira cost of everyday items moves quickly, so a budget fixed once can be out of date within months.
The Institute lists the next release for 5 November 2026. Check it before using the figure in a plan.

Household electricity
The official Kıb-Tek tariff table lists household electricity in TL per kWh from 1 June 2026: 5.8614 for the first 250 kWh, 12.0920 for 251 to 500 kWh, 13.0019 for 501 to 750 kWh, 14.0933 for 751 to 1,000 kWh and 16.8444 above 1,001 kWh. A fixed monthly charge of 110.58 TL is shown beside the household tariff lines. Cyprus Mail reported on 26 May 2026 that the rise was about 22%.
For the three-time tariff the same table gives 12.0920 normal, 16.7282 peak and 7.9711 off-peak. Kıb-Tek lists a later table dated 28 July 2026 for deposits and service fees only. Check the Kıb-Tek tariff page for the tariff in force.

What could not be verified
For the items below no dated 2025 or 2026 figure from a named, non-promotional source was found, so no number is given: water tariff, internet and mobile plans, health cover rules for foreign residents, municipal property tax basis, private rent, groceries and restaurant prices. None of them is verified.
Fuel was published by the state news agency in March 2026 at 52.12 TL per litre for 95-octane petrol, but that figure is eight months old and is not shown as a current price.
How to build a retirement budget
Start from written quotes rather than averages: ask the landlord or agent for the rent and any service charge in writing, ask the utility for the current tariff, and ask the health provider what the plan covers. List each cost in the currency it is charged in, so you can see how much depends on the exchange rate.
Review the budget every quarter because inflation is high, and keep a reserve for items that change by decree such as electricity and fuel. NORTHEA does not issue legal opinions; we coordinate independent legal review and assemble due diligence dossiers. Legal review: checked by a lawyer registered with the KKTC Bar.
Practical notes
