About North Cyprus · Adventure
Extreme sports and adventure activities in North Cyprus
As of 28 October 2026, tourism-promotion and government pages describe adventure activities in North Cyprus that include tandem paragliding from the Beşparmak range, scuba diving centred on Kyrenia, cycling, horse riding, quad bike safaris, karting and paintball. This page reads the Visit North Cyprus pages, the TRNC Public Information Office pages and the websites of two paragliding operators, and reports what each prints. It does not rank operators, treat prices as quotes or vouch for safety. NORTHEA is a property advisory, not an operator.
Checked 28 October 2026 against the sources named in the text and listed below. Positions of parties are attributed to them.

Tandem paragliding above Kyrenia
According to Visit North Cyprus, a tourism promotion site, there are two main jump sites on the Beşparmak range, west of St. Hilarion Castle, at about 2,500 and 2,600 feet. The page adds a gentler, low-flying glide over the sand dunes of Karpaz as a second option. Passengers fly tandem with a pilot who steers throughout, the pilot tailors the flight to the passenger's wishes, and a safety briefing covers launch and landing. The page says jump days and times depend on the weather, so it advises booking in advance, and that some paragliding offices are based at Kyrenia Harbour.
Two operator websites were opened on 28 October 2026. Highline Paragliding prints a take-off at 2,500 ft (750 m) west of St. Hilarion, a landing on the Girne coast and a whole adventure of at most two hours. Cyprus Paragliding prints its booking terms in Turkish. Neither page prints a flight price. Each operator's own page is the reference for its terms; NORTHEA has not checked either operator's licences or insurance.

Scuba diving
According to Visit North Cyprus, Kyrenia is the main diving hub, most schools are based there, and centres also operate within hotel resorts and beach clubs. The page lists free trial dives in a pool or sheltered sea cove with equipment provided, follow-on courses, a PADI Bubblemaker course for children over eight, longer dives for experienced divers and snorkelling trips. It names over twenty dive sites within easy reach of Kyrenia harbour and dive safaris in the Karpaz region to underwater caverns and a cargo ship lying below twenty metres.
On safety, the same page says instructors should be fully qualified and able to show accreditation and insurance, that courses should be certified by PADI or BSAC, and that "Scuba Diving on your own along the coast of North Cyprus is not permitted." It also says it is illegal to move historical artefacts and names May to October as the season. It prints a single dive at around £35 (as printed on 28 October 2026, indicative, on an undated page) and says course prices vary.

Parasailing and paragliding are not the same activity
The sources opened describe paragliding as a flight launched from the Beşparmak range, with a pilot in tandem (Visit North Cyprus, Highline Paragliding). The Visit North Cyprus boat tours page, which describes gulet and sailing trips, sunset cruises, private tours, yachting courses and fishing trips from Kyrenia, Famagusta and Boğaz, does not mention parasailing, water sports or jet skis.
The TRNC Public Information Office page on other social activities lists "parachuting" and water-skiing among water activities without naming a place, a season or an operator. No operator is recommended here; operator pages that list parasailing are summarised on the Boat tours and yacht charters page.
Cycling, trail walking, riding, quad bikes, karting and paintball
According to Visit North Cyprus, cycling suits leisure and competitive riders and is possible all year round, over terrain the page says "can go from rocky to clay, and steep to flat, all within the space of 10km". The page names no route, club or hire company. The Beşparmak Mountain Trail, also called the Kyrenia Mountain Trail, is described as the island's official long walking trail, set as 18 stages over 260 km from Cape Kormakitis to Cape Zafer, "sometimes rugged and steep", with route brochures on the site. The page gives no safety or season advice.
The Visit North Cyprus riding page says there are three main riding clubs, in Çatalköy, Karaoğlanoğlu and Kozan, without naming them, and mentions basic lessons, guided tours of historical sites and trail rides. The sport and training listing mentions guided horseback tours, quad bike safari day trips, archery and clay pigeon shooting, paintballing and go-kart racing in its introduction. It links no separate page or operator for quad bikes, karting or paintball, and the PIO page lists karting without a place. Football, federations and running events are covered on Sport and outdoor activities.

Zipline, bungee, skydiving, canyoning and climbing: not found
A zipline was not found in the sources opened on 28 October 2026 (listed above). This is not evidence that none exists. Ask a named provider for its address and current availability before making plans.
The same sources do not list bungee jumping, skydiving, canyoning or rock climbing as activities. The PIO tourism page names mountaineering, speleology and trekking in general terms. NORTHEA therefore makes no claim that any operator offers these activities.
Where the operator pages place the activities
The pages opened print these locations: Highline Paragliding gives an office at the Old Harbour in Girne, Cyprus Paragliding gives an office in Alsancak, Girne, and Visit North Cyprus says some paragliding offices are at Kyrenia Harbour. It lists the Karpaz dunes for a gentler glide and Karpaz-region dive safaris, riding clubs in Çatalköy, Karaoğlanoğlu and Kozan, and golf courses in Lefke and Esentepe (PIO).
These are the towns and districts the pages print, not an assessment of where to live. District boundaries and town profiles are on Districts and towns map, and seasonal weather on Weather and seasons.
What the pages say to check before booking
Visit North Cyprus says instructors should be able to show accreditation and insurance and that courses should be PADI or BSAC certified. Highline Paragliding states that all tandem pilots and customers have extra medical insurance in line with North Cyprus aviation laws, and Cyprus Paragliding states that it flies with internationally licensed tandem pilots and certified, regularly inspected equipment. These are the operators' own statements; NORTHEA has not verified licences, insurance or equipment.
Adventure activities carry risk. Confirm the operator's qualifications, insurance, age and weight limits, medical exclusions, weather cancellation and refund terms in writing, and follow the weather advice on Weather and seasons. NORTHEA is a property advisory and is not an operator or a booking agent.
Practical notes
- No flight, dive, hire or course prices are given as quotes. The one price in the text (about £35 for a single dive) is, as printed on 28 October 2026, indicative, on an undated Visit North Cyprus page, and may have changed.
- The Highline Paragliding page shows no date, price, weight limit or season, and its address and telephone details were not reproduced here; confirm them with the operator. The Cyprus Paragliding booking page is in Turkish and prints a deposit payment account, which this page does not repeat.
- The Visit North Cyprus sport and training listing may show further entries. The activity catalogue at visitnorthcyprus.com was opened but not used, because the page does not say who operates it.
- Adventure activities carry risk. Check the operator's qualifications, insurance and the weather before booking. Parasailing (boat-towed) and tandem paragliding (launched from the mountains) are different activities; this distinction is NORTHEA's editorial note, not a quotation.
- NORTHEA is a property advisory. It is not a tour operator, dive centre, booking agent or government office, and an activity does not confer any residency right. Informational, not legal advice.
