The full answer
As of 29 October 2026, the straight-line distance from Turkish provincial centres to four reference points in North Cyprus (Lefkoşa, Girne, Gazimağusa and Ercan Airport) is about 200 km (Mersin to Girne and Mersin to Gazimağusa) up to 1,075 km (Iğdır to Lefkoşa). Coast to coast, Anamur Cape to Kormakitis Cape is about 70 km. Figures are planning estimates rounded to 5 km, not official distances.
How the distances were calculated
The tables below show straight-line (great-circle) distances, not the real length of a road, sea route or flight path. For each province, the coordinates of the provincial-centre record in the GeoNames dataset were used (the Antakya record for Hatay, the İzmit record for Kocaeli, the Adapazarı record for Sakarya). Four fixed reference points were used on the North Cyprus side: Lefkoşa (Nicosia) (35.1856 N; 33.3823 E), Girne (Kyrenia) (35.3403 N; 33.3192 E), Gazimağusa (Famagusta) (35.1250 N; 33.9410 E) and Ercan Airport (35.1547 N; 33.4961 E).
Distance was calculated with the Haversine formula (Earth radius 6,371.0088 km) and rounded to the nearest 5 km. The values are therefore a planning estimate and not an official distance. The actual departure point (airport, port, district) and the route you choose change the result.

Short answers for Adana, Alanya, Anamur, Ankara and İstanbul
How many km from Adana to the TRNC? How many km from Adana to Cyprus?
Approximate straight-line distances from the Adana provincial centre: Lefkoşa 265 km, Girne 255 km, Gazimağusa 240 km, Ercan 260 km. The distance depends on which point on the island you travel to; the Adana–Ercan value is not the same as the Adana–Girne value. The real flight distance may differ depending on the air corridor. There is no continuous road from Adana to Cyprus.
How many km from Alanya to the TRNC? How many km from Alanya to Cyprus?
Approximate straight-line distances from the Alanya district centre: Lefkoşa 195 km, Girne 180 km, Gazimağusa 235 km, Ercan 205 km. The real distance travelled by sea from the port differs from these values. On 29 October 2026 we found no sailing information for an Alanya line on the promotional pages of Akgünler Denizcilik; before you buy a ticket, confirm with the operator whether the line exists, and its times and duration.
How many km from Anamur to Cyprus? Which town is closest to Cyprus?
Approximate straight-line distances from the Anamur district centre: Lefkoşa 110 km, Girne 95 km, Gazimağusa 145 km, Ercan 120 km. The coast-to-coast distance is shorter: using the same Haversine method, about 70 km was calculated between Anamur Cape, the southernmost tip of mainland Turkey, and Kormakitis (Koruçam) Cape at the north-western tip of Cyprus (GeoNames coordinates; Northea's calculation, not an official measurement). For the question of the "closest town", the provincial centre, the district centre and the nearest point on the coast are different measures; that is why the Anamur centre–Girne centre distance and the coast-to-coast distance are not the same number. The area around Anamur Cape is one of the Turkish coastal areas closest to Cyprus.
How many km from Ankara to Cyprus? How many km from İstanbul to Cyprus?
From the Ankara provincial centre: Lefkoşa 530 km, Girne 510 km, Gazimağusa 540 km, Ercan 535 km. From the İstanbul provincial centre: Lefkoşa 755 km, Girne 735 km, Gazimağusa 785 km, Ercan 765 km. When searching for a flight, treat Ercan Airport as the destination, and consider Lefkoşa, Girne, Gazimağusa or İskele separately for the final journey on the island.
How do you get from Turkey to the TRNC?
There is no bridge or continuous road between Turkey and Cyprus; the journey is made by air or by sea. The information below was checked on the operators' own pages on 29 October 2026; timetables, durations and conditions may change, so confirm with the operator before your travel date. For practical details see how to get to North Cyprus.
By air
According to Pegasus's official page, a direct flight is offered from Ankara Esenboğa to Lefkoşa Ercan Airport (ECN); Turkish Airlines' official page lists an İstanbul (IST) – Lefkoşa (ECN) flight (both checked on 29 October 2026). For other departure airports, operating days, flight times and prices, see the airlines' pages. The straight-line distance from a provincial centre to Ercan is not the exact length of the flight path. A separate transfer is also needed from the airport to your accommodation or to the area of the property.
By ferry and sea bus
- Taşucu–Girne: according to Akgünler Denizcilik's official page, the sailing time is about 2 hours 30 minutes with Grand Master and Flying Anka, and about 5 hours on the Via Mare ferry (checked on 29 October 2026). According to the same page, the Girne–Taşucu line carries passengers and vehicles.
- Anamur–Girne: according to Akgünler Denizcilik's official page, the sailing time with Akgünler 3 is about 1 hour 45 minutes; the Girne–Anamur line is listed as passenger transport and does not carry vehicles (checked on 29 October 2026). For sailing days and times, see the operator's ticket page.
- We found no sailing information for an Alanya line on the operator's pages, so we state no duration or sailing day.
Ferry and sea-bus times, vehicle capacity, passenger and vehicle documents, port procedures and ticket prices must be confirmed with the official operator before your travel date. Do not confuse the sea-route distance with the straight-line distance from a province to the TRNC.
Transport and choosing property
For people living in Turkey who are looking for a home in North Cyprus, what matters is not only the flight time but also access from Ercan Airport to the project's location, the links between Girne, Lefkoşa, İskele and Gazimağusa, and the transport options through the year. When researching property through Northea, assess the project location, the title-deed and legal-review process, the total acquisition cost and the transport options separately. Convenient transport does not, on its own, guarantee an investment return.
